Northwest ISD’s Carrie Pierce has been named the principal of W.R. Hatfield Elementary School. Pierce is currently the assistant principal at NISD’s J.C. Thompson Elementary School.
At the April 27 school board meeting, the board approved Kim Blackburn to lead Seven Hills Elementary School as principal. Blackburn is currently the principal at Grapevine Elementary School in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.

At the April 27 school board meeting, the NISD Board of Trustees named Justin Vercher as the principal of Chisholm Trail Middle School. He has ten years of administrative experience additionally serving as a principal in Forney ISD and assistant principal in Katy ISD.

Northwest ISD is offering the ACT on April 28 to Juniors at no cost. The ACT consists of four multiple choice tests: English, mathematics, reading, and science. Additionally, students are being given the optional writing assessment to meet the requirements for admission to many universities.
In its first year as a firm, the Byron Nelson High School Virtual Enterprise International (VEI) Business Program has been named national champions at the Global Business Challenge and International Trade Show. The BNHS team, along with the top 23 teams in the nation out of more than 500 firms, competed and pitched their companies at the Microsoft Headquarters to 19 judges.
At the April 13 school board meeting, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Logan Faris, Ed.D. as the district’s new Executive Director of Secondary Education. Currently, Dr. Faris is the principal at McKinney High School in McKinney ISD where he has led the campus since 2012.
