7:00 PM Keeping Your Kids Safe Online
Due to inclement weather conditions, Northwest ISD will dismiss students early today at 11 a.m. Campuses will release students to parents who wish to pick up their child earlier. Additionally, all after-school activities including sporting events, practices, musical programs, and meetings will be cancelled this evening. Buses will run at the following estimated times with consideration that our families may not be able to leave work right away. By sending buses to middle schools first, this allows for an older sibling to be home by the time a younger sibling arrives: Middle at 11 a.m., Elementary at noon, High Schools at 1 p.m.
Approximately 2,053 parents responded to the Northwest ISD Parent Survey conducted in December.
NISD’s CyLynn Braswell has been named the new director of career and technical education. CyLynn has worked in NISD since 2010 as an agricultural science instructor and the coordinator at NISD’s Outdoor Learning Center.
On February 20, the NISD Education Foundation (NEF) grant brigade surprised 32 teachers at 12 campuses across the district by presenting them with an innovative teaching grant. This year, NEF awarded $99,856.27 in teaching grants.
On February 17, NISD’s Steele Accelerated High School unveiled a new ‘flipped classroom.’ Representatives from BKM delivered and installed $40,000 of classroom furniture that fits the model of 21st Century learning.
