Our Schools:

ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

Sendera Ranch Elementary School

Below you will find procedures for our arrival and dismissal for the 2014-15 school year. Please keep in mind the following procedures:

  • Our school start time is 7:45 am. Students should be in their seats and ready for instruction at 7:40 am.
  • After 7:45, all students must enter the school through the front office. Students will then pick up a tardy pass and proceed to class.
  • For your child's safety, no students are allowed to be at school before 7:20 am unsupervised.
  • Ride Changes must be requested prior to 2:00 pm.
  • There will be no early dismissal after 2:15 pm. This is due to an increase in the amount of traffic.
  • For the safety of all, please do not park and walk up to the school to pick up your child.

Morning Arrival:

  • The doors will be open at 7:20 am.
  • Breakfast is served from 7:20 am until 7:45 am.
  • Students need to arrive early, so they can be in class at 7:40 am.
  • All students will be allowed to walk to class starting at 7:20 am.

CAR RIDERS

We would like for parents who would turn RIGHT on to Diamond Back Lane OR go STRAIGHT across to Trial Stone to use the back of the school for drop off in the mornings.

Parents using the front driveway for drop off in the mornings are requested to use that driveway if they are going to turn LEFT onto Diamond Back Lane. School personnel will be at the front and back of the school to assist students. Parents should stay in single line. Students should be ready to exit the car upon arrival in the front.

DAYCARE, BUS RIDERS and TAXI SERVICE

  • Daycare, bus riders and student taxi service will unload in the front of the school.
  •

Afternoon Dismissal:

CAR RIDERS

- All car riders will be picked up in the back of the school.

- Please have your car visor identification sign easily visible for staff to see.

- Each child will receive a car visor identification sign at "Meet the Teacher Night" that details the child's name and grade. This sign must be visible in the

car visor as you pull into the loading zones. Visibility of the sign will assist us in providing a safe and smooth process.

- There will be two lines of cars for back dismissal. Teachers will be supervising students' departure.

- For safety and consistency, cars will form a line from the back of the school down to the stop sign. The car line will continue straight down Diamondback Lane in front of the school.

BIKE RIDERS

Bike riders must wear a helmet (it's the law). Bikes should be walked while on school property.

It is recommended all bikes be secured with a lock.

WALKERS

Students who are walking will walk on the sidewalk to the appropriate crosswalk where they will be assisted by a crossing guard provided by the city of Fort Worth.

For the safety of all, please do not park and walk up to the school to pick up your child.

Kindergarteners and 1st graders who are "walkers" will be lined up inside of the school building in the Kindergarten wing hallway. This will ensure a climate controlled environment for our students as they wait to be picked up.  There will be teachers inside with the students as well as teachers outside calling for students to be released with the walkie talkie.  (Similar to car riders.)  Parents, guardians, and siblings MUST stay outside of the playground gate to wait for their child.  If you picked up a green "car rider" sign at Meet The Teacher, please write your child's name (in black marker) on it so we can quickly call for your child to come and meet you.   IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE SIGN, YOUR ID WILL BE CHECKED!

If your student is picked up by an older sibling, the older sibling will come and wait by the gate after they have been dismissed and we will make sure they leave together.  Older siblings who attend SRE do not have to have a sign.

Students who are typically classified as WALKERS will be considered CAR RIDERS on days with inclement weather. Inclement weather will be considered as heavy rain, snow or sleet, and severe weather such as a tornado, lightening, etc.  Since Sendera Ranch Elementary opened, we've observed that 99 percent of our student walkers have become car riders in the afternoon when we experience inclement weather. Our students have either been picked up by parents, other family members or neighbors. As a convenience to these families, we will not require parents (during these weather situations) to call in and make ride changes. On these inclement weather days, we will automatically change walkers to car riders.

If your student is picked up by an older sibling, the older sibling will come and wait by the gate after they have been dismissed and we will make sure they leave together.  Older siblings who attend SRE do not have to have a sign.

DAYCARE, BUS RIDERS and TAXI SERVICE

- All students riding  Durham transportation bus are dismissed from the front of the school.  It depends on the daycare on where students are picked up at dismissal.

Change in Transportation

A written note must be sent to your child's homeroom teacher in order for us to change your child's usual afternoon transportation home. "A Note To School" pad will be available at "Meet the Teacher Night" for all families. A printable copy of "A Note To School" is located on our campus website.

For emergency dismissal changes, notify the front office at 817-698-3500 by 2:00 pm if your child's usual afternoon dismissal has changed. No dismissal changes will be accepted after 2:00 pm. If you are checking your child out of school early (early dismissal), please check him/her out before 2:15 pm. No early dismissals after 2:15 pm. Thank you for your help in following these procedures so we can provide a safe environment for all children.
