See each enrichment club week’s detailed description with grade levels designated as the current ending 2012-13 grade level. *Minimum enrollment of 20 is required for each age grouping to ensure club offerings. Clubs with insufficient enrollment may be canceled.
Readers’ & Writers’ Club – Designed to foster the love of reading and develop word recognition, decoding, fluency, accuracy, and comprehension, the Readers’ Workshop will provide interactive lessons connected the theme for the week focusing on syllabication, word roots, suffixes/prefixes, and word parts along with skills taught to facilitate comprehension of reading through text evidence, chunking of information, author’s purpose, and vocabulary. Additionally, to strengthen the skills of the developing writer, techniques for crafting the elements of writing, revising, and editing using individual writing will provide the opportunity to learn the components of the writing traits through creation and publication of their own writing piece connected to the theme for the week. Students will be provided resources extending the skills taught to enable parents to continue practicing the reading skills through the summer and beyond. Students who participate will be recognized as a “Rockin’ Reader and Writer” on their campus upon return to school in the fall. June 17-21 or July 8-12, Age Groups*: K-1, 2-3, 4-5
Mathematicians’ Club – Designed to spark the love of mathematical thinking and problem solving, the Mathematics Workshop will provide basic number sense extended into strategies embedding critical thinking and problem solving. Students will be provided resources extending the skills taught to enable parents to continue practicing the math skills through the summer and beyond. Students who participate will be recognized as a “Math Marvel” on their campus upon return to school in the fall. June 24-28 or July 15-19, Age Groups*: K-1, 2-3, 4-5

PBL Club – Designed to incorporate all content areas linked together, the PBL Workshop will provide high level thinking skills, collective problem solving, collaborative inquiry, and much more. Are you ready to think? Join us this summer as we engage in a week long problem based learning where you will solve problems everyday problems in communities. This thinking is the way engineers, doctors, and, yes, even teachers, approach problem solving. Students will be provided resources extending the skills taught to enable parents to continue practicing the skills through the summer and beyond. Students who participate will be recognized as a “PBL Practitioner” on their campus upon return to school in the fall. July 22-26, Age Groups*: K-1, 2-3, 4-5
Special Recognition for 5 Stars Club Members
Become a 5 STARS Club Member - Students who participate and are recognized at their campus for all five club recognitions (Rockin’ Reader and Writer, Math Marvel, and PBL Practitioner) will be recognized at a campus celebration.
