Streamlined to concentrate on academic mastery, the newly designed Middle Academic Program (MAP) is designed for students in grades 6 – 8 who need acceleration within the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills of the required courses of Language Arts, Math, Social Studies or Science.  The two lowest courses will be provided unless all three core courses are needed for grade level advancement. All classwork is provided on-site at the Middle School.  Daily attendance during the summer session dates is required until course completion.

 

 

  • Mathematics - Middle School Academics Program (MAP) Grades 6th-8th

Interactive lessons designed to focus on and reinforce skills specific to the Readiness TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) addressing math skills and content.  Tools and strategies incorporated include but are not limited to: problem solving and reasoning skills to justify solutions, math workshop model strategies to reinforce student thinking and understanding, and web-based technology component to support and reinforce skills.

  • Social Studies - Middle School Academics Program (MAP) Grades 6th-8th

Interactive lessons designed to focus on and reinforce skills specific to those TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) addressing social studies skills and content.  Tools and strategies incorporated include but are not limited to: Mapping Labs, experiential activities, and Document Based Questions (DBQs) and web-based technology components to help support and reinforce skills.

 

  • English/ Language Arts  - Middle School Academics Program (MAP) Grades 6th- 8th

Interactive lessons designed to focus on and reinforce skills specific to those TEKS (Texas Essential knowledge and Skills) surrounding the area of deepening reading comprehension. Tools and strategies incorporated to help support instruction include, but are not limited to: book clubs, reader’s/ writer’s notebooks, Socratic Seminars, along with a web-based technology component to help support and reinforce skills learned.

 

  • Science - Middle School Academics Program (MAP) Grades 6th- 8th

Interactive lessons designed to focus on and reinforce skills specific to those TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) related to science process skills.  Tools and strategies incorporated to help support instruction include, but are not limited to: interactive virtual lab experiences, hands-on labs, and analysis of data and reporting of conclusions through technical writing to build science content knowledge in the areas of matter, energy, earth science and life science.
