NISD offers a self-funded medical Plan administered by Allegiance Benefit Plan Management through the Cigna Network includes three plans to choose from. The district also has an Employee and Wellness Center that all medical plan participants may access. Visits to the NISD Employee Health and Wellness Center have a zero co-pay and there are over 80 generic medications available through the clinic formulary with a zero co-pay to medical plan participants.

The District also subscribes to an Employee Assistance Program through Alliance Work Partners that is offered at no cost to all employees and members of their households. The District provides $15,000 of Life Insurance to all employees on the health plan and $50,000 life insurance for non-medical plan participants from Sun Life Insurance to employees who choose the hospital indemnity or alternate plan. Other voluntary benefits include a high dental plan and low dental plan administered by Cigna Network; a long-term disability plan offered by UNUM; vision plans from Vision Service Plan (VSP); supplemental accident plan through MetLife and supplemental cancer insurance plan through Allstate.  Employees have the option to participate in a Medical Flexible Spending as well as a Dependent Care Account using pre-taxed contributions.
