2017-18 Northwest ISD Academic Planning Guides

For students entering high school, please reference the “2017-2018 High School Academic Planning Guide” which highlights the graduation requirements.

  • As a part of the House Bill 5 passed in the 83rd Legislature, the Texas Education Agency adopted new graduation requirements that are mandated under the new Foundation High School Program for students entering Grade 9 in the 2014-15 school year and thereafter. The core coursework in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies is still required but now requires students to align their focus of study in a specific field by obtaining at least one endorsement.
  • As a part of the new graduation requirements, students entering Grade 9 in 2014-15 and thereafter will have an opportunity to select one or more endorsements to meet graduation requirements by confirming and signing a personal graduation plan with the student and the student ’s parent or guardian.
