What are Academies?

The Academies of Northwest ISD include a comprehensive four- year plan ideal for students interested in preparing for entry-level employment, an associate degree, a baccalaureate degree, and/ or other types of advanced training. An academy is a four-year pre-determined sequence of elective courses that allow students to immerse themselves in a field of their interest through hands-on learning opportunities, field-based experiences, and internships. NISD academies provide students with the knowledge, training, and confidence to prepare for college and careers. Academies are open only to incoming 9th graders.
