What are Watch D.O.G.S?

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) are dads, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, neighbors, friends, and male role models of students here at Clara Love Elementary. Each one has volunteered to spend at least one day this year being a role model here at school. They read with students, help those who need a little extra time in the classroom, eat lunch with their own child, go to recess and just have FUN with our children.

To volunteer you will need to submit to a background check (forms available on-line or in the school office) and sign up in the counselor's office and on the sign outside the cafeteria. How do Watch D.O.G.S. support education and safety at school?

Encourage students! (With lots of smiles and high fives, etc.)
Help with the flow of traffic at arrival and dismissal times
Monitor hallways and entrances
Monitor buildings - inside/outside
Assist at lunch
Assist at recess
Eat lunch with students
Read with classes or tutor small groups of students
Work with flash cards and/or educational games
Actively and positively engage with their student and others
Speak to classes about importance of education and career choices
Be available to mentor male students
Be chaperone of field trips and activities
Help students with test review
Smile and be a hero for the day!

These men will NOT:

Go into student restrooms
Be alone or unsupervised with students
Espouse political or religious beliefs to students
Sell or give their official WATCH D.O.G.S. t-shirt to someone who isn't an approved volunteer
