Our Schools:

ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

Sendera Ranch Elementary School

Below you will find procedures for our arrival and dismissal for the 2011-2012 school year. With the implementation of this arrival and dismissal system, there are some important necessities to keep in mind:

· Our new school start time is 7:45 am. Students should be in their seats and ready for instruction at 7:40 am.

· After 7:45, all students must enter the school through the front office. Students will then pick up a tardy pass and proceed to class.

· For your child’s safety, no students are allowed to be at school before 7:20 am unsupervised.

· Ride Changes must be requested prior to 2:00 pm.

· There will be no early dismissal after 2:15 pm. This is due to an expected increase in the amount of traffic.

· For the safety of all, please do not park and walk up to the school to pick up your child.

Thank you for your patience as we work together to create the safest process for our Longhorns!

Morning Arrival:

· The back cafeteria doors are open from 7:20 am until 7:45 am for morning arrival.

· The front doors will be open starting at 7:30 am.

· Breakfast is served from 7:20 am until 7:45 am.

· Students need to arrive early, so they can be in class at 7:40 am.

· All students will be allowed to walk to class starting at 7:30 am.

CAR RIDERS

· If your child is being driven to school in the morning, please come in the back of school entrance, marked “Parent Drop-off” and pull all the way around, where you will let your child(ren) out by the cafeteria. A staff member will be directing traffic beginning at 7:20 am.

· We will only have one car lane in the morning, so please pull as close to the curb as possible and remain in your car.  Please have students ready to exit the car as quickly as possible.

· Students exit the passenger side of the car. A staff member will help open car doors.

· The door to the cafeteria will open at 7:20 am and will lock at 7:45 am.

· It is suggested that car riders are dropped off in the back; however, if the need arises, students are allowed to be dropped off in the front drive of the school only between 7:30 am – 7:45 am. If you do arrive at the front of the school, we will only have one lane and students will exit the car on the passenger side. There will not be staff available in the front for opening car doors.

DAYCARE, BUS RIDERS and TAXI SERVICE

·  Daycare, bus riders and taxi service will unload in the front of the school, and  students will walk through the school to the cafeteria. At 7:30, am students will walk to class.

Afternoon Dismissal:

CAR RIDERS

· All car riders will be picked up in the back of the school.

· Please have your car visor identification sign easily visible for staff to see.

· Each child will receive a car visor identification sign at “Meet the Teacher Night” that details the child's name and grade. This sign must be visible in the car visor as you pull into the loading zones. Visibility of the sign will assist us in providing a safe and smooth process.

· There will be two lines of cars for back dismissal. Teachers will be supervising students’ departure.

· For safety and consistency, cars will form a line from the back of the school down to the stop sign. The car line will continue straight down Diamondback Lane in front of the school.

BIKE RIDERS

· Bike riders must wear a helmet (it’s the law), and they must walk their bikes while on school property. This is a safety issue and should be discussed with your children.

· It is recommended all bikes be secured with a lock.

· For the safety of all, please do not park and walk up to the school to pick up your child.

WALKERS

· Students who are walking will walk on the sidewalk to the appropriate crosswalk where they will be assisted by a crossing guard provided by the city of Fort Worth.

· For the safety of all, please do not park and walk up to the school to pick up your child.

DAYCARE, BUS RIDERS and TAXI SERVICE

· All students riding a day care bus, Durham transportation bus or taxi service will dismiss from the front of the school.

Change in Transportation

A written note must be sent to your child's homeroom teacher in order for us to change your child's usual afternoon transportation home. “A Note To School” pad will be available at “Meet the Teacher Night” for all families. A printable copy of “A Note To School” is located on our campus website.

For emergency dismissal changes, notify the front office at 817-698-3500 by 2:00 pm if your child’s usual afternoon dismissal has changed. No dismissal changes will be accepted after 2:00 pm. If you are checking your child out of school early (early dismissal), please check him/her out before 2:15 pm. No early dismissals after 2:15 pm. Thank you for your help in following these procedures so we can provide a safe environment for all children.
