LeighAnne Romer, the new principal of Thompson Elementary School says she is “beyond excited” for this opportunity. “I’m eager to embark on this new and exciting journey with the students, staff and families,” said Romer, who has worked as an assistant principal at NISD’s Beck Elementary and Gene Pike Middle School. “I look forward to building strong partnerships with each member of the Thompson learning community.”
Prior to her assistant principal positions, Romer was the Campus Instructional Teacher at Medlin Middle School where she had also worked as a special education teacher. She also taught in Dallas for seven years. “It’s a unique opportunity to prepare our learners with the foundation for success in the 21stcentury,” Romer said. “As we teach and learn together, we will establish a culture of excellence at Thompson Elementary School.” Romer, who earned two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Windsor in Canada, has her master’s degree in educational administration from Texas Woman’s University and she is currently working toward a doctorate in education.
