NHS Teacher Receives Outstanding Teacher of Humanities Award

Northwest High School government teacher Charles Cooper was presented a plaque and $5,000 cash award from the Humanities Texas organization for his exemplary contributions in teaching, curriculum development and extracurricular programming.  Out of the nearly 350 statewide nominations, Cooper was selected as one of 13 to receive the 2012 Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities Award.  In addition, Northwest High School Principal Jason Childress was presented a $500 check designated for instructional materials.  (Pictured left to right in the photograph on the home page: Joy Ann Havran, Humanities Texas board member, Liz James, coordinator of educational programs at Humanities Texas, Chandler Cochran, field representative for State Senator Jane Nelson, Charles Cooper, Northwest High School teacher and Jason Childress, Northwest High School principal)
