Northwest High School government teacher Charles Cooper was presented a plaque and $5,000 cash award from the Humanities Texas organization for his exemplary contributions in teaching, curriculum development and extracurricular programming. Out of the nearly 350 statewide nominations, Cooper was selected as one of 13 to receive the 2012 Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities Award. In addition, Northwest High School Principal Jason Childress was presented a $500 check designated for instructional materials.
