Northwest ISD held a Facebook Live session on Tuesday, Aug. 7, regarding the state’s academic accountability systems for students and schools, and a recording can now be viewed here.

In the video chat, Dr. Ryder Warren, Northwest ISD’s superintendent, was joined by curriculum staff as they discussed how academic accountability systems work. A PowerPoint presentation including a voiceover can be downloaded here.

“As a school district, we are not in favor of the A-F rating system. Though I am pleased NISD received an ‘A’ rating from the state, we use so much more to measure academic and social excellence,” said Superintendent of Schools Ryder Warren, Ed.D. “I am extremely proud of our students and educators. The state rating system is a small piece of the overall picture we use to measure our kids, our teachers, our schools, and NISD as a whole. We continue to advocate for a community-based accountability system that looks beyond one grade and one exam. The district supports an accountability system that is meaningful and has value to students, parents, teachers and stakeholders and measures what our communities, with an emphasis on our parents, deem appropriate in promoting college, career and life readiness.”
