HEB has named Thompson Elementary School’s Marcie Conrad as a finalist for its Lifetime Achievement Award for elementary teachers as part of its Excellence in Education Awards, placing her among the state’s top veteran educators.

Mrs. Conrad is among just five finalists for the award, with the winner slated to be announced Sunday, May 5, in Austin. To be eligible for the award, an educator must have 20 years’ experience and first be nominated by a community member.

As a teacher of gifted and talented programs, Mrs. Conrad works with students of all age levels, encouraging their creativity and challenging them with advanced topics. She is involved in additional advanced academic offerings, including her school’s Destination Imagination program and the district’s elementary UIL academic competitions.

If she wins, Mrs. Conrad will receive $25,000 for herself and Thompson Elementary will receive a $25,000 grant.
