Northwest ISD has named Jason Sanders as its new director of instructional technology, replacing Cara Carter, who the district named executive director of technology.

Mr. Sanders has served Northwest ISD since 2013, first as a classroom teacher before becoming an instructional technologist. Since 2017, he had served as the district’s coordinator of instructional technology. Prior to joining Northwest ISD, Mr. Sanders was a teacher in Dallas ISD and Lewisville ISD.

In his new role, Mr. Sanders will oversee classroom-based technology used for curriculum and educational purposes. As with his prior role, Mr. Sanders will work closely with principals and teachers to provide the best services and software for lessons while also providing instruction and guidance for those tools.

“I’m thrilled to continue supporting Northwest ISD students and teachers as the director of instructional technology,” Mr. Sanders said. “Education and technology have both been longtime passions of mine, and I’m looking forward to further empowering educators to reach and assist our students to become future-ready.”

In addition to his work experience, Mr. Sanders is an active member in educational and technology associations, including the International Society for Technology in Education and the Texas Computer Education Association. Earlier this year, the TCEA named him its 2019 Technology Administrator of the Year.

Mr. Sanders received his bachelor of science degree in chemistry and master of science degree in educational leadership and administration, both from the University of Kansas. He is a Google, Microsoft and ISTE certified educator. His new position is effective immediately.
