Attendance

ATTENDANCE

Per TEA guidelines, students must engage in learning on a daily basis. All remote students are expected to participate in each class period every day. This is a significant difference compared to the Emergency Remote Learning this past spring.

ELEMENTARY: Teachers will record attendance at the end of the school day (3:30 p.m.) marking each student as present or absent for the day. All students are expected to participate in each class every day. If a student was marked absent at the end of the school day (3:30 p.m.) but is able to engage in the work from that day prior to 11:59 p.m., their attendance will change to PRESENT. The teacher or attendance clerk will make that change the following day.

MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL: Attendance will be taken for each class every day. All students are expected to participate in each class every day. When a student is marked as present for at least one class, the daily attendance will indicate present. If a student submits an assignment or engages in learning as outlined in the asynchronous plan by 11:59 PM, the student will be marked as present for that day on following day.

KEY POINT: It is imperative that students engage in learning every day in every class because students must have a passing grade and be present 90% of the time in order to receive credit for the class at the end of the semester. This is the same rule that applies for all In-Person classes.
