Dear Parents/Guardians of Gifted Learners:

As we anticipate the beginning of the 2020-2021 academic year, we want to communicate what gifted services for your child will look like during both in-person and connected learning.

Middle School and High School students who are registered for GT classes for the 2020-21 school year will connect with those teachers and classmates during our Connected Learning time from August 20 - September 11. When In Person learning resumes on September 14, students will continue with gifted services. Students who opt into Connected Learning will also continue to receive gifted services, although their teacher will most likely change.

Beginning August 24, gifted learners in elementary will have scheduled Zoom times with the GT Specialist on their campus. Times will vary based on grade level, but students will be able to connect once or twice a week, for 45 to 90 minutes. During connected learning, lessons will focus on social/emotional learning and executive functioning skills. If you choose face-to-face learning on September 14, your child will continue to receive gifted services in a physical setting that respects social distancing protocols. Should you choose to keep your child in connected learning, we will continue services via Zoom as planned; however, your child’s schedule may need to be adjusted. Your child’s specialist will contact you with specific scheduling information.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please reach out to your Campus GT Specialist or Coordinator.

If you are looking for a group of parents to connect with, please reach to NAGT for additional support.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, as well as for your partnership during this time.
