MIDDLE SCHOOL LEARNING

Preparing for September 14 When In-Person Learning is Available

NISD will be able to offer our middle school students three models of learning:

  • Traditional In-Person Learning (beginning September 14)
  • Remote Courses taught by NISD teachers
  • Edgenuity Courses in which students will be supported by NISD teachers
In-Person Learning (Beginning September 14)
  • Students should not arrive at school any earlier than 8:20 am.
  • Students will be expected to use district-approved hand sanitizer immediately upon entering the building.
  • Students arriving at school early will be expected to social distance and follow campus protocols for arrival until school begins.

Remote Learning Format
Students will participate in daily learning activities using Moodle, an online learning platform. Once in Moodle, students will have access to Zoom links, Edgenuity courses, daily assignments, and more.

Instruction and support will be provided by NISD teachers in a blend of synchronous (live, in real time) and asynchronous format. This means that students will have both scheduled and flexible learning times daily.

Attendance requirements will apply to all students.

Remote Learning Schedule
Middle school students will follow a block schedule during Remote Learning (August 20-September 11). Beginning September 14, all middle school students will transition to the traditional 8-period day.

NISD believes a block-schedule during All-Remote Learning will help foster Social-Emotional Learning and relationship-building. We also believe a block-schedule will provide students with quality time to become accustomed to a more robust version of Remote Learning.

Remote learning schedules are now available.
