Northwest ISD Long Range Planning Committee Meets Tuesday to Discuss Bond Election

The
Northwest ISD Long-Range Planning Committee (LRPC) will gather on Tuesday to review results of the
Nov. 3 bond election, evaluate projects and develop a plan to address student growth and facility needs.
Bond referendums give voters a voice in the future of the school district. Before a school district can issue bonds to fund construction, land purchases, technology infrastructure, and more, the school district must ask voters for authorization.
Bond elections can be held in May or November. The 2020
bond propositions were not approved by voters on Nov. 3, and the district is considering holding another bond election on May 1, 2021.
The Northwest ISD 2020
Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE), which is a separate election, also failed to pass. State law only allows VATREs to be held in November.
