Jennifer Murphy, who was elected to Place 7 on the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees in the Nov. 3 election, was sworn into office at the Dec. 14, 2020 school board meeting.

Murphy has lived in the district for 10 years with her husband and two sons. She said the district has grown tremendously in that time, becoming a destination for families looking for great schools.

“We have a lot of families looking for a place for their kids to grow, to learn and to be unique in their own way,” she said.

Murphy said she has served in various nonprofit organizations and public education throughout her career.

“Service has always been a part of who I am,” she said. “This was one of the ways I could give back to the district and to the people who are and will benefit from what public education looks like in Northwest ISD.”

Murphy said that she’s looking forward to the challenge of in-depth learning and helping to shape what the future of the district will be.

“We have so many great things and so many challenges,” she said. “With growth comes tremendous responsibility. We’re doing the work now that will lay the foundation of what this district will look like in the future.”
