The Northwest ISD Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Patricia Lutkenhaus as the new principal of Gene Pike Middle School at Monday night’s school board meeting. Mrs. Lutkenhaus, currently serving as assistant principal at the same school, will begin her new role in mid-July, filling the vacancy left by Chris Jones who transitioned to Ponder ISD.

“As educators, we have the opportunity each day to positively impact the lives of our students to help them grow and become the best person they can be,” said Mrs. Lutkenhaus. “I am looking forward to this incredible opportunity to collaborate with the Pike community to provide our students with the best possible experiences during their time at Pike. Our Pike staff is amazing and they are dedicated to providing our students with the best. I look forward to building on our strengths and supporting our teachers as we continue to grow and have a positive impact on the Pike Community.”

Mrs. Lutkenhaus has served Northwest ISD for the past eight years, first at Chisholm Trail Middle School before joining the Pike faculty as the campus instructional teacher in 2015. During that time, she has been nominated three times for the Teacher of the Year award, earning the honor in 2017. Mrs. Lutkenhaus has 21 years of educational experience. Prior to her work in Northwest ISD, she taught and coached at Sanger Middle School in Sanger and Selz Middle School in Pilot Point.

“Patricia is a long-standing member of the Northwest ISD family and is such an asset to Pike Middle School,” said Superintendent Ryder Warren. “We are excited for her to step into this leadership role and continue to serve the students, faculty and community there with diligence and passion.”

Mrs. Lutkenhaus earned her master’s degree from Lamar University and her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas. She holds a number of certifications and has led a number of professional development and training opportunities for staff.
