Transportation

Northwest ISD is committed to the safe and timely pick-up and delivery of Northwest students. Recent parent surveys indicate that roughly 85 percent of Northwest parents and guardians are happy or satisfied with the transportation services provided for their children.

If your child will be riding a school bus to and from school each day, please make every effort to let the student ride the bus the first few days of school at least in the afternoon. This will assist the drivers in determining the number of students who will be riding their buses every day, allowing them to plan and execute their routes in a consistent manner.

SafeStop

Reliant Transportation has been working diligently to ensure students are arriving safely to and from school. Because of the increase of student enrollment and approximately 2,000 students who did not register for transportation services prior to the start of school, we will continue reworking routes for the first few weeks of school.

If your child is eligible for transportation, please make sure you have elected to use the school bus when enrolling online. You can check this status by logging into Home Access Center. Once logged in, you can view your child's transportation status. If you do not see a bus route listed, but your child is using transportation, this means you are not registered for transportation. Please contact your child's campus (the registrar or office manager) so that your intention to ride the bus reflects a "yes" in the system.

It is important to update this information so it reflects accurately in the SafeStop bus-tracking app. We expect to have all students who have changed their transportation status on bus routes reflected in our system and the SafeStop app by Monday, Sept. 10.

The SafeStop app allows you to receive real-time tracking updates of your child's school bus at your fingertips.

Please remember the app will not show transportation for your child if it is not listed in HAC.The SafeStop app can be downloaded on the app store for iPhones and on the Google Play store for Android phones. Additionally, any device can use SafeStop through a web browser at this link. Please note that you must provide your child's district-issued student ID number to register for the service. You will also need to input your zip code to find Northwest ISD and select it as your school district.
