Message to Parents

TO:              Northwest ISD Parents and Caregivers

FROM:         Ryder Warren, Superintendent of Schools

SUBJECT:   Superintendent’s Safety Update

DATE:          March 19, 2018

I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break. It is hard to believe we only have a little more than two months left in the school year. Though the kids might think that is a long time to wait for summer, we know we have very little instructional time left with them this school year. Please encourage your student(s) to continue working and learning with diligence. With our schools and homes partnering together, we hope our kids are inspired to continue growing with excellence. We have had a lot of success this year, and your support is appreciated so our students finish strong and prepared for the next level.

As we return to our routine following Spring Break, I also want to return to our community conversation about school safety. This Thursday, March 22, at 6:30 p.m., I will kick off the conversation with a Facebook Live discussion. I invite you to join me for this virtual town hall meeting to discuss current safety efforts, how the district investigates and responds to alleged threats against schools or students, how social media interactions affect these issues, and more. To participate, go to the NISD Facebook page using either a browser or Facebook’s mobile app.

Your child’s school has had or will be hosting a local meeting at the campus to address safety and security as well. We want to continue this conversation at the campus level, so please be on the lookout for more information or contact your child’s school for details.

With student safety being the most important challenge we have, it is important that we work together. It is my desire to have open conversations about the perceptions of safety and security at NISD schools and facilities, and I welcome your questions. Please join in the conversation during the Facebook Live chat on Thursday, or you are always welcome to contact us at

As always, your involvement and support is appreciated.

Ryder Warren, Superintendent of Schools
