Credit Recovery:

Middle School
Students who have failed two or more subjects, are able to make up these classes by successful completion of the course, which is taught face-to-face.  Grades in credit recovery are awarded in the form of a P or F.  Students pay online for specific courses to be considered registered.

Per grading guidelines, in grades 6-8, promotion to the next grade level shall be based on the following:

  • an overall average of 70 on a scale of 100 based upon course-level, grade level standards (TEKS) for all subject areas, and
  • a grade of 70 or above in three of the following required areas: language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies

A student must pass both semesters or attain an average grade of at least 70 when averaging two semesters to be awarded credit for a high school credit course.

High School

Students who have failed a semester of a course are able to make up this class by successful completion of the course. The course is self-paced with certified instructors to assist students, as needed.  Should students complete their coursework early, meet the passing standard, they may be released from attendance for the remainder of summer school. Grades in credit recovery are awarded in the form of a P or F.  Students must pay online for specific courses.  For further information on promotion, retention and credit, see the Secondary Grading Guidelines on the website.

For more information on Credit Recovery or the EOC Prep Course, please visit this flyer: High School Summer School Program - Credit Recovery/EOC Intervention/Prep Course

Secondary Summer School registration will be done through the student's counselor for all middle school and high school students.  The student registration worksheet should be obtained from this website or from the counselor. After the student has met with the counselor and the registration form has been completed, the student or parent will need to pay for any Credit Recovery or Original Credit courses.  Students should bring the original registration worksheet to the first day of summer school for verification.
No late registrations will be accepted without a counselor’s signature.  Students need to preregister by May 31.

Your school counselor is the best resource for summer school questions.

Original Credit Program:

8th graders and high school students who want to accelerate their learning can do so by taking online courses for original credit through Edgenuity, a web-based curriculum. All work is online with the student working independently in a self-paced format. Students are expected to complete online work on a regular basis within the web-based program.
