At Northwest ISD Career & Technical Education, we believe every student should get real: real academics, real skills, and a real high school experience unlike any other. Students across the district can begin taking select CTE courses in middle school, offering them a real opportunity to begin exploring different career interests.

Kelley Henderson, Northwest ISD Executive Director of College & Career Readiness, honored as CTAT CTE Administrator of the Year
The Career and Technical Association of Texas has named Northwest ISD Executive Director of College and Career Readiness Kelley Henderson its 2026 Administrator of the Year, recognizing her as the state's top career and technical education administrator. Read more: bit.ly/4w7LqcL
Northwest ISD recognized as CTE District of Distinction for 2nd Consecutive Year
The CTE District of Distinction program is a designation for school districts with robust, high-quality CTE programs that meet the needs of students, local communities, and employers. Selected districts serve as models of excellence, showcasing best practices and driving progress in CTE statewide.
CTE Academies set to expand with new Construction Academy and Transportation, Automation, and Logistics Academy
The Construction Academy opened in Fall 2025 at Northwest High School. Students learn hands-on construction career skills in HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, site safety and construction management. As they move to their junior and senior year, they can specialize in certain trades and will have the opportuntity to gain valuable experience through internships with with local companies and organizations. preparing them for a career in trades or post-secondary education.
Enrollment requests for the Transportation, Automation, and Logistics Academy (TALA) will begin this winter (2026) in preparation for Davis High School's opening in the 2027-2028 school year. The school will feature automotive-oriented classrooms, automative bays (including two diesel-specific bays), industry-specific computer and programming labs, and an innovation makerspace outfitted with automation and logistics technologies.
