Aviation and Aeronautics Academy
- Study the principles and science of flight and explore modern military and commercial aviation with an emphasis on Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards
- Upper-level students choose track in Aviation Maintenance, Drone (Unmanned Pilot) or Flight (Manned Pilot) as their Academy focus
- Aviation Maintenance: Develop an understanding of the theory of aircraft airframes operation and aircraft powerplants, and associated maintenance repair practices.
- Unmanned Pilot: Build a drone using aerodynamic composite materials, advanced avionics, and instrumentation. Study various aspects of UAV flight operations (i.e,. navigation, industry laws and regulations to pilot UAVs).
-
Manned Pilot: Conduct pre-flight inspections, engine start-ups, and taxi aircraft as a key part of ground operations. Study aspects related to flight planning and piloting aircraft (i.e., navigation, weather science, mathematical fuel and load planning).
