Course Descriptions

Principles of Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications (1 credit)

Course includes an introduction to audio and video production, graphic design and illustration, and principals of animation. Adobe Creative Cloud applications are used in the course. Students at Northwest High School can apply to the Creative Media Production Academy after taking this course their 9th or 10th grade year.
Certification Opportunities: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro

Audio/Video Production I (1 credit)

Course explores the audio and video production industry, including postsecondary educational and career opportunities. Students gain relevant experience working with BNTV (BNHS) or EGLTV (EHS) for video announcements. Professional equipment and Adobe Creative Cloud software used to create student productions. Several class and small group audio, video, and film-style production projects.
Certification Opportunities: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro

Audio/Video Production II (1 Credit)

Students in this course gain additional experience working a second year of BNTV (BNHS) or EGLTV (EHS). Students work as employees for the campus television station producing a live TV show each day in the state-of-the-art HD television production facility. Students work as reporters, anchors, producers and crew members. Students work on several audio and/or video productions created for television, cable television, education, radio, entertainment, business and/or industry.

Career Preparation I/ Practicum in Audio/Visual Production (2 Credits)

This course provides opportunities for students to participate in a work-based learning experience that combines classroom instruction with business and industry employment experiences. The goal is to prepare students with a variety of skills for a changing workplace. Career preparation is relevant and rigorous, supports student attainment of academic standards, and effectively prepares students for college and career success.
