2025 AP Highlights

• 2,401 students were enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
• 2,255 students took one or more AP Exams.
• Students completed 4,324 AP Exams.
• 1,816 students (81%) earned a score of 3 or higher, the highest rate in district history.
• 3,469 AP Exams (82%) earned a score of 3 or higher
• 1,958 AP Exams (46%) earned a score of 4 or higher.
• Since 2015, the number of students earning qualifying AP scores has more than doubled.

Northwest ISD students continue to demonstrate strong performance in Advanced Placement coursework. Over the past decade, both participation and achievement have increased significantly, with 2025 marking the district's highest percentage of students earning AP scores of 3 or higher and 4 or higher. These results reflect students' commitment to rigorous coursework and their preparation for college-level success.

By earning qualifying AP exam scores, Northwest ISD students have the opportunity to earn college credit before graduating from high school. Based on estimated tuition costs, these credits for 2025 represent approximately $10 million in college credit value in for the 24-25 school year.

Traditional Dual Credit Enrollment Growth

Traditional dual credit participation continues to soar, with NISD growing from 192 course enrollments in 2017-2018 to 3,180 in 2025-2026—an increase of 1,556%.

This chart shows the growth of Northwest ISD's traditional dual credit program from 2017-2018 through 2025-2026. The numbers represent course enrollments, not individual students. Because many students take multiple dual credit courses, each course enrollment is counted separately.

Northwest ISD has experienced remarkable growth in dual credit participation, increasing from 192 course enrollments in 2017-2018 to 3,180 enrollments in 2025-2026—an increase of more than 1,550%. This growth reflects expanding access to college-level opportunities and a growing commitment by students to earning college credit while still in high school.

Student Success

Enrollment growth has been accompanied by strong academic performance. During Spring 2026, 93.9% of all grades earned were a C or higher, demonstrating that students are not only enrolling in dual-credit courses at record levels but also succeeding in rigorous college-level coursework.

These results highlight the dedication of our students, families, teachers, counselors, and college partners who work together to help students graduate with a strong start toward their college and career goals.

Associate Degrees Earned

Northwest ISD students continue to reach new milestones in college achievement. The number of students earning an associate degree while still in high school has grown from 1 graduate in 2018 to 64 graduates in 2026.

This upward trend reflects the success of the district's college readiness initiatives and expanding access to Early College opportunities. Students who earn an associate degree graduate from high school with a significant head start on their postsecondary education, saving both time and tuition costs as they pursue their future goals.

Northwest ISD is proud to partner with OnRamps, a program developed by The University of Texas at Austin that gives students the opportunity to experience authentic college-level coursework while still in high school. OnRamps allows students to earn high school credit while choosing whether to accept college credit after successfully completing the course.

2025-2026 OnRamps Highlights

• 1,538 students participated in OnRamps courses.
• Students enrolled in 3,155 OnRamps courses with 3,112 courses completed (99%).
• Since 2022-2023, 4,053 students have enrolled in 11,672 OnRamps courses, demonstrating continued growth in college-level participation across NISD.

Students who earn college credit through OnRamps have the opportunity to reduce future college tuition costs. During the 2025–2026 school year, Northwest ISD students earned an estimated $6.7 million in college credit value through OnRamps during the 2025-2026 school year. Through ongoing professional learning and collaboration with The University of Texas at Austin, they provide students with rigorous, college-level learning experiences while maintaining the support of the high school classroom.
