Applying Leave During Summer Hours
Welcome to summer hours! I wanted to review the process for
applying leave during summer hours.
We will observe the summer hours beginning Monday, June 5,
2017 through Thursday, August 3, 2017. During this time, employees work Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30- minute lunch break. Regular working hours resume on Monday, August 7, 2017.During the summer hours, the total hours worked Monday through Thursday is
38 hours rather than 40 hours. Compensatory time will be earned when the total worked hours exceed 40 for the workweek.
During the summer 4-day workweeks, if an employee is off due to illness or personal time, they will need to work additional hours to meet the district standard of 38 hours during the summer work schedule. I have attached some examples below for your reference. Please note the examples will reflect vacation, which is a benefit for the 235 and 261 employee groups.
If an employee is absent for one day during the summer work week, the employee will need to work an additional hour and forty-five minutes to achieve 38 hours for the week.
If an employee is absent for 2 days during the summer workweek, the employee will most likely need to apply an additional ½ day along with the 2 days of leave.
If an employee is absent for the entire workweek, five days of leave will be applied.
