Digital Citizenship

Northwest ISD is dedicated to developing citizens who know how to harness the learning potential of digital media safely, effectively, ethically, and respectfully in a 24/7 connected world.

“Instead of restricting access, we should educate young people to participate in [in the digital world] responsibly, ethically and safely. Through proper use of social networking sites, students learn social media etiquette and cultivate their digital citizenship.”Wang ET Al., 2013Northwest ISD is a Common Sense Certified school district for multiple years running due to our lessons on Digital Citizenship and responsible use of technology in our classrooms. All NISD students engage in Digital Citizenship lessons based on Common Sense resources as well as local stakeholder resources and input, covering topics such as internet safety, cyberbullying, privacy, security, copyright, creative use, social media, personal digital footprint, and more.
