The vision of Northwest ISD is to empower educators with skills they need to review and understand the privacy policies and the terms of conditions for tools they want to use with students. The district uses an established process to properly vet digital tools, including having companies sign the national Data Privacy Agreement (DPA), before approving them for district use. While we have these district approved tools located in the NISD portal, we do not want to stifle the teachers ability to seek out other resources. Therefore, below are some resources to help and empower our teachers.

When integrating digital tools into the classroom, its important to first determine the purpose and define the goals of the lesson. Once the goal is clearly defined, teachers and students can then select a tool that matches their needs and complements the purpose of the lesson. The IT Resources site has resources to help students thrive in their digital environment, and resources to help teachers focus on goals, pedagogy, and instructional strategies.

Educators are responsible for reviewing the terms and conditions of every tool they use. It is of utmost importance to be cognizant of the student age requirements and the student data that is collected by the tool. Depending on their terms of use and privacy policies, some tools may require parental consent. The purpose of the NISD Technology Campus Support site is to provide information about campus and classroom technology support.

All hardware/software requisitions are to be ordered under the campus/department T approval group number in eFinance. This is to ensure that items are properly vetted for appropriate use, privacy concerns, etc. before purchase. Items such as toner and adapters are considered to be supplies and do not need to be entered under the T approval group number.
