PLTW Engineering Courses
Year 1
Intro to Engineering Design (IED)
Students dig deep into the engineering design process, 3D modeling, and hands-on projects.
Year 2
Civil Engineering and Architecture
Students learn important aspects of building and site development in residential and commercial.
Scientific Research and Design (Environmental Sustainability)
Students investigate and design solutions for real-world challenges to clean water, food supply, and renewable energy.
Aerospace Engineering
Students explore the physics of flight and design a glider, create a program for an autonomous space rover, and a racket.
Digital Electronics
Students explore the foundations of computing through circuit design, creating combinational logic and sequential logic like an electrical engineer.
Cybersecurity
Students explore the tools and concepts of cybersecurity and create solutions for privacy.
Year 3
Principles of Engineering (POE)
Students explore a broad range of topics including mechanisms, strength of structure/materials, and automation.
Year 4
Engineering Design and Development
Students identify a real-world challenge and then research, design, and test a solution, ultimately presenting their unique solution to a panel of engineers.
Optional: Practicum in STEM
Students participate in a combination of both on-campus course work and off-campus instructional internship.
