Dr. Stephanie Espinosa went over a concern that was brought up about the calendar for the 2023 – 2024 school year, student’s not being off the day of the elections on November 7. Several concerns were discussed regarding the elections and having students on campus that day. Stephanie is going to bring the concerns up to the Executive Director’s and cabinet and let everyone know if there is anything else that needs to be discussed.

Dr. Espinosa reviewed the law regarding our ESL students and gave an overview of our current ESL student numbers. She discussed a need for a Napoli exception waiver and ESL waiver, the committee voted to file waiver with TEA. Amberly took a vote and there was a majority vote to file the waiver with TEA.

Tim McClure presented a synopsis of what the Long-Range Planning Committee has done thus far in their process. They’ve had four meetings so far and will have another three meeting before bringing their recommendations to the board in January. He highlighted the areas of our district that are growing at an exponential rate and some of the projects they are considering. Mr. McClure gave an update on the door audit process and the safety and security implementations mandated made by the State. Three campuses have been audited by the State, we passed at all three.

Anthony Tosie went over our communication tool, ParentSquare and how it works. He touched on the features of ParentSquare and how a campus can easily use it to keep their parents and community updated on what’s happening at their student’s school. He also shared that staff need to be sure and give a written description for any photo that is shared to meet ADA requirements.

Dr. Griffin discussed the Legislative priories that are being developed by Administrator’s and the Board. The legislature reconvenes January 10, 2023. Items they are working on are below.
