NISD welcomes your input on the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school year calendars.

Both calendars feature the same Wednesday, August 14, 2024, start date as well as the same breaks for winter and spring breaks. The spring break date was chosen in alignment with Tarrant County College, the district’s primary dual-credit course partner, for instructional purposes. Surrounding districts have indicated they will use the same date.

Differences between the two calendars can be seen below. While only the 2024-2025 calendar is being shown, the 2025-2026 calendar will mirror the final approved 2024-2025 calendar, only changing dates to coincide with the changing days of the week.

Calendar A: Thanksgiving break lasts the entire week for students (staff may use flex days on the Monday and Tuesday of the break). This calendar option most closely mirrors the current 2023-2024 calendar.
Calendar B: Thanksgiving break lasts Wednesday to Friday to provide an earlier summer break, with school ending Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

Q. How does NISD determine when to take breaks such as Spring Break or Winter Break?

A. NISD works with surrounding districts to align our breaks as much as possible. For Spring Break, NISD also aligns with Tarrant County College since many of our students take dual credit classes with TCC.

Q. Why does NISD have half days or early release days in the calendar?

A. Early release days are planned at the end of each marking period so that teachers can complete grades for students. The early release day in October also allows for teachers to meet with parents for conferences.

Q. Why does NISD take off on the November election day and the day before.

A. Many of our campuses are used as polling sites, so in the best interest of safety we do not have students on campus during this time.

Q. Why does NISD have teacher professional learning days in January and March?

A. Professional learning is an important component in education. These days allow for teachers to plan with colleagues to best support students.
