Northwest ISD has named Ashley Kahler as the next principal of Medlin Middle School, elevating a longtime campus assistant principal to lead the school.
For the past eight years, Ms. Kahler has served as an assistant principal at Medlin Middle School, where she has led initiatives including the campus improvement plan, testing, ARD meetings and student accountability data. Ms. Kahler began her tenure in Northwest ISD as a teacher at Tidwell Middle School in 2010 before advancing to the school’s leadership team.
Ms. Kahler said she looks forward to continuing Medlin Middle School’s strong academic and extracurricular success while maintaining strong community partnerships.
“Medlin Middle School is a special campus, and I’m honored to work alongside our dedicated teachers, support staff and leadership team to provide an exceptional learning experience for our students,” she said. “As principal, my priority is to support our teachers and ensure every family feels connected and engaged with our campus. I also have a deep commitment to ensuring all students build confidence and take ownership of their learning so they can be their best selves at Medlin.”
Prior to joining Northwest ISD, Ms. Kahler spent three years in the fine arts department in Lewisville ISD, where she served as band director at Killian Middle School. Throughout her career in education, Ms. Kahler has led initiatives to support and train teachers, from professional development to discipline and behavioral framework development.
She will succeed Paige Cantrell, who is retiring at the end of the school year after leading Medlin Middle School for the past nine years.
Ms. Kahler earned her master’s degree in educational leadership from Concordia University and her bachelor’s degree in music education from Texas Christian University.
