Byron Nelson musician earns state championship

Northwest ISD is excited to announce that Byron Nelson junior Charlotte Adams recently earned the Outstanding Performer distinction after her viola performance at the Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest in May.

Out of approximately 100,000 students who participated in regional UIL music contests and more than 10,000 who performed at TSSEC, Charlotte stood out among the top 2 to 3 percent of solo performances and earned the Outstanding Performer award.

The award signifies superior musicianship and comes with a UIL gold state champion medal identical to those awarded to state winners across all UIL events.

Charlotte is the ninth NISD musician to be named a TSSEC Outstanding Performer, and the first from Byron Nelson since 2018. 

Charlotte is a member of the Byron Nelson orchestra which is directed by Gary Keller.
