Chisholm Trail Middle School has been named a Texas School to Watch, earning statewide and national recognition for its commitment to academic excellence, student growth and continuous improvement.

The designation is part of the Schools to Watch program, led nationally by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform and in Texas by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals. Chisholm Trail Middle School is one of approximately 70 campuses across Texas to receive the honor.

State leaders selected Chisholm Trail Middle School based on multiple indicators, including academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity and strong organizational structures and processes. The campus was also recognized for its effective leadership, collaborative teaching practices and ongoing commitment to assessment and accountability to drive continuous improvement.

“This school has demonstrated that a high-performing middle school is a place that focuses on academic growth and achievement,” said Dr. Joe Coleman, state director for Schools to Watch in Texas and TASSP associate executive director for middle-level services. “Chisholm Trail Middle School recognizes the importance of meeting the needs of all students and ensures that every child has access to a challenging, high-quality education.”

Chisholm Trail Middle School will be recognized at the Making Middle School Matter Symposium hosted by TASSP in Austin in March. The campus will also receive national recognition at the National Forum’s Schools to Watch Conference in Washington, D.C., in June, alongside Schools to Watch honorees from across the country.

Principal Jennifer Higgins said the recognition reflects the dedication of the entire school community.

“Chisholm Trail Middle School has always worked hard to build relationships with students, make school a safe place to learn, and create interesting and challenging learning opportunities,” Ms. Higgins said. “We are thrilled that Schools to Watch recognized the hard work our teachers have done and the amount of growth our school has made.”
