Colors, mascots announced for Carter, Daniel elementary schools

When Northwest ISD starts the 2023-2024 school year, the district will open five new campuses, including two brand new elementary schools. In preparation for this opening, the district can proudly announce the colors and mascots for the two elementary schools.

Students at Molly Livengood Carter Elementary School, located in the Northstar community of Fort Worth, will wear orange and green, and call themselves the Coyotes. The Carter Coyotes name fits the area well, as coyotes were once common throughout North Texas before its development, and coyotes maintain a notable population throughout North Texas.

Students at Johnie R. Daniel Elementary School, located in the Pecan Square community of Northlake, will wear blue and green and call themselves the Dogs. The ranch dog featured in the school logo fits its namesake well, as Mr. Daniel served as a land developer for Hillwood and managed the company’s Circle T Ranch. A ranch dog also serves as the mascot for Pecan Square.

Both campuses – as well as the new C.W. Worthington Middle School and replacement schools for Hatfield Elementary School and Seven Hills Elementary School – are slated to open in August 2023. Names for the new campuses were approved by the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees based on the recommendation of a selection committee following community submissions.

The selection process for colors and the mascot for Worthington Middle School will begin in fall 2022.
