Northwest ISD has named Dr. Daryl Porter as the next principal of Northwest High School, welcoming a school leader with a decade of school and district administration experience.

Dr. Porter has served as principal of Brewer High School in White Settlement ISD for the past three years, and he previously served as the district’s director of career and technical education. Prior to his time in White Settlement ISD, Dr. Porter served in Crowley ISD as an assistant principal, principal and coordinator of district CTE programs.

During his time as a campus leader, Dr. Porter has earned a reputation for increased academic results and innovative CTE programs. Schools he has led have increased state accountability and testing ratings. Dr. Porter will begin his role in Northwest ISD after the current school year concludes.

“I look forward to getting to know the Northwest Texan community and continuing to build on its engaging culture while also focusing on high-quality academics and CTE programs to prepare students for their next chapters in life,” Dr. Porter said. “With Northwest High School’s expansion and renovation slated for completion this summer, I know great opportunities lie ahead for our students, teachers and community.”

In addition to his administrative experience, Dr. Porter has served as a teacher in Birdville ISD, Fort Worth ISD, Hutto ISD and Medina Valley ISD. He brings 17 years of experience in public education to his new role. He has presented at numerous educational leadership conferences, including for the Texas Education Agency and Texas Association of School Administrators.

Dr. Porter earned his doctorate in educational leadership from Tarleton State University, master’s degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and bachelor’s degree from Southwest Baptist University.
