A respected campus leader will return to Northwest ISD to open J. Fred Davis Jr. High School, as the district has announced Dr. Ron Myers as the inaugural principal of the school.
Dr. Myers previously served as principal of Byron Nelson High School from 2014 to 2022, establishing a strong academic and extracurricular culture at the school under his guidance. Since his retirement from the district, Dr. Myers has served as a professor at TCU, providing lessons on school leadership to veteran educators and administrators.
With a 36-year career in public education, Dr. Myers said he was eager to return to the school setting to support students and teachers using additional knowledge gained from educational leaders across the state.
“Providing a strong educational environment for students and teachers alike has been the reward of a lifetime,” he said. “When the opportunity to lead Davis High School presented itself, I felt called to apply. I look forward to working with our students, staff and community to set standards and traditions that will last for generations. The first students at the school will have a tremendous opportunity to leave their mark and establish a legacy of excellence.”
Dr. Myers brings a strong understanding of the area, as Davis High School resides in the current Byron Nelson High School attendance zone. Its attendance boundaries will be set in the fall semester of the 2026-2027 school year, with to-be-determined portions of Tidwell and Worthington middle schools feeding into the new high school campus. Northwest ISD tentatively plans to begin community input meetings on the attendance boundaries in September.
Dr. Mark Foust, superintendent of Northwest ISD, said Dr. Myers will create a strong foundation at Davis High School in partnership with the community.
“Dr. Myers has a wealth of knowledge to share with the students and staff of Davis High School, and we are honored an educator with his respected background has returned to lead the school,” he said. “In his time at Northwest ISD, Dr. Myers garnered a well-earned reputation for working with the community to support of students, and I look forward to seeing the results of that partnership at our newest high school.”
In the coming months, Dr. Myers will meet the community at events while he prepares a staff for Davis High School. One of his first tasks will include receiving feedback from current Tidwell and Worthington students for the selection of a school mascot. Students at the new school will wear maroon, black and white as their school colors.
Davis High School will open in August 2027 as Northwest ISD’s fourth comprehensive high school and home to the district’s Transportation, Automation & Logistics Academy. The school is named after an influential longtime Northwest ISD school board member and community leader who earned national recognition for his dairy farm.
Prior to serving in campus administration, Dr. Myers served as a teacher for a decade in Killeen ISD and Fort Worth ISD as well as Norman Public Schools in Oklahoma. He brings 25 years of principal experience to his new role, including 10 years leading campuses in Northwest ISD.
Dr. Myers earned his doctorate in educational administration from the University of Oklahoma, his master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Baylor University, and his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from East Central University.
