Eight NISD students advance to FBLA national competition

Northwest ISD is proud to recognize eight students who will represent the district at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference in Orlando in late June.

The eight students, from James M. Steele Early College High School and Byron Nelson High School, were among 23 from NISD who competed recently at the Texas FBLA State Leadership Conference in Galveston.

FBLA competitive events recognize and reward excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. FBLA competitive events also prepare students for successful careers in business by providing opportunities to apply classroom concepts in a workforce-simulated competitive environment.

At the State Leadership Conference, students compete in events testing their business knowledge and skills. Top state winners are then eligible to compete for national awards at the National Leadership Conference each summer. More information can be found at www.fbla.org

Students from NISD competed as individuals and in groups at the state level in competitions ranging from impromptu speaking to broadcast journalism to event planning. Below is a list of students who placed in the top five in their event, qualifying them for the national competition.
