Every day counts: Northwest ISD launches Attendance Awareness Month campaign

Northwest ISD is joining school districts nationwide this month to celebrate Attendance Awareness Month and remind families that every day in the classroom matters.

The Every Day Counts: Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow campaign shares resources, tips and information throughout the month to help families build strong attendance habits and ensure students have every opportunity to succeed.

Regular school attendance plays an important role in student success, and even a few missed days can add up quickly. The campaign will focus on helping families understand the connection between attendance and academic achievement while also providing practical strategies for overcoming common barriers to getting to school each day.

Each week in September, Northwest ISD families will receive information through ParentSquare covering a different attendance-related topic, including:

Week 1: Every Day Counts – Families will learn about chronic absenteeism, how absences can impact learning and how to monitor their child’s attendance through Home Access Center.
Week 2: Stress-Free Morning Routines – Families will receive tips for establishing consistent nighttime and morning routines that make getting to school on time easier.
Week 3: When Is “Too Sick” for School? – Families will learn when students should stay home due to illness and how to properly report an absence.
Week 4: Celebrating Great Attendance – The campaign will wrap up by celebrating families’ efforts and encouraging them to maintain strong attendance habits throughout the school year.

Northwest ISD also encourages families who are experiencing barriers related to transportation, housing, student motivation or other challenges to reach out to their child’s school for support. By working together, families and schools can help students attend regularly, stay engaged in learning and reach their full potential.
