Five NISD track and field student-athletes headed to state

Five student-athletes from Northwest High School and Byron Nelson High School will represent the district this weekend at the upcoming University Interscholastic League Track and Field State Tournament in Austin, Texas. The athletes qualified for the meet based on their performances in regional competition.

Northwest High School (5A)

Northwest High School qualified four track and field student-athletes in the 5A division. The Texans will be represented in Austin on Friday, May 12, by Andrew Lutkenhaus (800 meters), Kenen Reil (110 and 300 hurdles), Anaya Potter (High jump and 300 hurdles) and  Mackenzie Blue (Pole vault). This will be Blue's second trip to state this semester after making history in February as a member of the Texan's first-ever UIL 5A Girls Wrestling State Championship team.

Skylar Brazzell (100 and 200 m dash) 

The Bobcats will send sophomore Skylar Brazzell to compete in the 100 and 200 meter dash races. She will run at the 6A level in Austin at Mike Myers Stadium on Saturday, May 13.
