All Northwest ISD students and families are invited to a bike safety event hosted by the Fort Worth Police Department on Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. at J.C. Thompson Elementary School (440 Wishbone Lane, Haslet).

Organized by certified bike officers from FWPD, the event will include presentations on crosswalk crossing safety, how to correctly maneuver safely with a bike while crossing the street, proper bike hand signals, explanations of street signs, etc.

Parents and students are encouraged to bring their personal bikes and helmets to the event. While at the event, an officer can review the condition of the bike and review proper helmet usage.

At the end of the presentation, each child will receive a goody bag with bike safety items, educational material and a visit with McGruff the Crime Dog.
