Four NISD teams compete at Destination Imagination Global Finals

After competing at the GFW Regional Tournament and the Texas Affiliate Tournament this Spring, four Northwest ISD Destination Imagination teams competed at Global Finals. The global Destination Imagination Tournament hosted hundreds of teams from across the country and all around the world in Kansas City, Missouri, from May 21-24.

Five NISD teams scored in the top six of their challenge to advance to the Global Final, to participate in the world’s largest celebration of creativity and problem solving. Congratulations to the following teams for advancing: The Wabbits, RCBC, Wait . . . What? and Teenage Mutant Ninja Bacon. RCBC, representing Eaton High School, competed in both Fine Arts and Service Learning challenges this season. While the team placed in two challenges at State, they competed in just one at Globals.

Destination Imagination teams compete in two challenges: the Central Challenge and the Instant Challenge. Since October, teams have worked to develop and refine their Central Challenge solutions after each competition. The Instant Challenge is different at each competition. The day of the tournament teams walk into the room and are presented with a problem to solve and present, all within seven minutes. Teams are judged not only on their solution presentation, but also on their teamwork. Teenage Mutant Ninja Bacon from Medlin Middle School received the highest Instant Challenge score within their division.
