Free NISD Student Wellness Center reopens for the new school year

Northwest ISD’s Student Wellness Center reopens September 1, offering free counseling services to students in third through 12th grades.

Staffed by NISD counselors, the center is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pike Middle School, 2288 Texan Drive. The mission of the center is to provide NISD students with short-term counseling that offers guidance, solution-focused strategies and the development of healthy coping skills.

In order to visit the center, students and parents must contact their school counselor and receive a referral to the NISD Student Wellness Center.

Please be aware of the following important information:

• Visitors should enter through Pike Middle School’s main entrance.
• Students must be referred by their counselor in order to attend the center.
• Sessions are 50 minutes and offered at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. or 7 p.m.
• For the first session, a parent must attend with the student.
  • Any following sessions, students who can drive can attend on their own.
  • Students who require a ride, parents must remain on campus for the entirety of the session.
• The center is free for NISD students; however, a $25 fee may be applied for those who miss a scheduled session or cancel with less than 24 hours notice.
