Northwest ISD has named Jennifer Putman as the next principal of Curtis Elementary School, a role she will begin after the conclusion of the current school year. The naming brings a veteran principal to Curtis to continue its strong foundation as its current principal opens a new school in the district.

Ms. Putman will join Northwest ISD after serving as principal of Janie Stark Elementary School in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD for the past five years. She previously spent four years as an assistant principal in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, where she also served three years as an instructional coach. Prior to her entry into administration, she spent nine years as a teacher in both Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and Irving ISD.

While Ms. Putman will continue in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD for the remainder of the current school year, she will coordinate with Carrie Pierce, current principal, to ensure a smooth transition. Ms. Pierce will open Alan & Andra Perrin Elementary School at the start of the 2024-2025 school year as its inaugural principal.

“I am honored to join the Legend family at Lizzie Curtis Elementary School to continue building on the strong reputation in academics and family partnerships that have been established in the past six years since the school opened,” Ms. Putman said. “I am eager to meet the students, staff and community of Curtis to build lasting relationships and work together to ensure each child achieves personal excellence.”

In addition to her work inside schools, Ms. Putman has continued her professional development through numerous leadership programs. She has graduated from N2 Learning’s Principals’ Institute, advanced through Harvard Graduate School’s School Turnaround Leaders, and completed Deloitte University Leadership Center’s Courageous Principals Institute.

Ms. Putman earned her master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington and her bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.
