Middle school music programs achieve Mark of Excellence
Tidwell Middle School and Medlin Middle School were given the Mark of Excellence and awarded as national winners by The Foundation for Music Education.

The Mark of Excellence is a national program that recognizes outstanding achievement in performance and recording quality. Ensembles submit live recordings, which are then reviewed and ranked by a panel of nationally recognized adjudicators. The top 25 percent of entries are awarded the Mark of Excellence.
Tidwell Middle School’s varsity choir, led by Director Evan Lane, was highlighted for their performances in two different middle school categories, treble and open class. They were the only national-winning middle school to gain achievements in two separate choir categories.

Medlin Middle School was recognized in the Band Class AA for wind ensemble under the direction of Ethan Gordon. AA category awards are given to schools with enrollment of more than 600 students.
As national winners, the student groups will be recognized in regional and national conferences and publications.
