Northwest ISD has named Nathan Roub as principal of Hughes Elementary School, bringing a veteran campus administrator from a neighboring district to lead the school.
Mr. Roub has served as a principal in Keller ISD for the past three years, where he has focused on building relationships within the community to uphold a supportive learning environment. He also believes in collaborating with teachers and staff to analyze academic and behavioral data to help students succeed. Before advancing to principal, he served as an assistant principal in Keller ISD for three years.
Mr. Roub succeeds Amanda Bomar, who was recently named principal of Prairie View Elementary School.
“I look forward to meeting the Hughes Hawk community, and I’m immensely impressed by the strong foundation Principal Bomar and the school staff has established at Hughes Elementary School, from academic success to the culture of family engagement,” Mr. Roub said. “As a parent in Northwest ISD, I appreciate the reputations of its schools. I believe in upholding this reputation by making the best decisions for students by collaborating with our amazing teachers, staff and families.”
Prior to his time in campus administration, Mr. Roub served as a teacher and instructional coach in Dallas ISD for five years. He has also taught at the collegiate level, serving as an adjunct professor in American Sign Language at Stephen F. Austin University for two years. As a teacher, Mr. Roub had a background in special education and math.
During his career, Mr. Roub has led curriculum development, behavioral support teams, professional development and more. He currently serves as an advocacy chair on the TEPSA Region 11 board.
Mr. Roub earned his Master of Education Leadership degree from Southern Methodist University and his bachelor’s degree in education from Stephen F. Austin University.
