NISD high schools in same district after UIL reclassification

The University Interscholastic League on Monday announced the tentative 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 football, basketball and volleyball district assignments, dividing schools based on their total school enrollment.

Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest high schools are set to play in the same 6A athletic district for the next two years. Joining the three schools in District 4-6A are Boswell, Keller, Central, Timber Creek and Carroll high schools.

The cutoff point for Class 6A for 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 was set at a student enrollment of 2,215 or more.

Eaton submitted Northwest ISD’s largest enrollment estimate for the 2026-2027 school year at 3,238 students. Byron Nelson submitted an enrollment estimate of 3,001 students and Northwest submitted an estimated enrollment of 2,807.
