NISD runners set for UIL Cross Country Championships
The Byron Nelson High School boys and girls cross country teams, plus Presley Collins from Eaton High School, are set to represent the district in Round Rock at the UIL Cross Country State Championships on Friday.
The Bobcats and Presley all recently ran at the 6A Region I meet in Lubbock and all qualified for this week’s state meet.
The Byron Nelson girls team won the 4-6A district championship, then finished second at the region meet. At the region meet they were led by Reyna Heisserer who finished 10th and Elena Sather who finished in 19th. Other team members include MJ Novelli, Macie Peterman, Talia Ramirez, Emily Nelson and Sammy Spicer.
The Byron Nelson boys team finished second in their district and third in their region. At the region meet they were led by Matthias Peterson who finished eighth and Liam Bengtsson who finished 12th. Other team members include Jason Wade, Jackson Bellm, Rafeal Ochoa, Chase Hope and Owen Clagett.
Presley, a senior, finished third at the district meet then eighth at the regional meet.
All races in the state meet will take place at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock on Friday. Presley and the Byron Nelson girls will run at 10:45 a.m. The Byron Nelson boys will run at 11:25 a.m.
